New Year Round Up: THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY!

Happy New Year loyal subjects, we apologise here at St Ives Towers for the long delay in extending our welcome to you but there has been a bit of a shock following some wonderful news!

The Good.............
1) The Lady Mayoress of Armley announced on the eve of New Years that she would be stepping down from her onerous duties to become chief communications officer, and the search is now on for the next Mayor or Lady Mayoress of Armley (in a totally unofficial capacity we stress!)
We do have a couple of candidates but will be posting these and your entries over the coming weeks hoping to make an announcement for the end of January. Would you like to take on the role and wear the diamonte encrusted crown jewel chains with pride at whatever spurious event takes your fancy? Email your picture (can be made up) details and a short piece on why you should get the vote, and at the end of Jan we will have a lovely public vote! jamsiren@thearmleytouristboard.com

2)Naturally St Ives Mount won the rather wonderful accolade of 'Friendliest Street in Britain' as voted for by the listeners of Radio 5 Live! What impeccable taste they have all 56% of them. To listen to the ex Lady Mayoress and her saucy talk with Richard Bacon click the following link........RADIO FIVE

3) Many Calendars gone to good homes, still a few left, anyone want any? Just email jamsiren@thearmleytouristboard.com

4) For those following the fortunes of the ex Lady Mayoress's old trusty stead Sherman have a butchers at the following pictures of the little devils latest incarnation! (Note the number plate- The ex Lady Mayoress had to stifle a sob!)

5) We have a holding page for the new website which we are currently developing which will be a total community resource for YOU! To post news, share stuff, reject planning permissions, rate suppliers etc. Admittedly it is not ready just yet, but will be soon, so keep your eyes peeled!

The BAD

Todd's Pork and Beef Butchers....... 5 letters were sent to object to the proposed development by Done Book makers and there is a hearing at Leeds Magistrates Court on the 11th January. We will post news of next actions, but definitely get to the next Armley Forum on Tuesday 16th at 6pm if you want to air your views and work out how we can take action.

The UGLY
Okay so you think Sherman should have been in this section but let the ex Lady M have her last moments of power, 2007 promises to be different, and Jam Siren promises that whoever shall take the reigns of power next she will serve them faithfully too, but please whoever you are, lay off the Country Manor Perry and please don't abuse the privelege bestowed upon you. I say no more (but if you buy the drinks she might be persuaded to divulge!)

Many of our wheelie bins from our St Ives have been stolen many times over the last couple of months to make fires on the wreck, not too friendly is it?
Recently a good neighbour had his car window stoved in.

According to my mum you need to turn out in force at the planning inspection. They have had several successes in defeating planning applications in the West Park Residents Association due to the high number of people turning up at planning inspections.

unfortunately I'm all talk and no action on this kind of thing, but mainly I'm at work during the day.
